Why Local?

We love our Valley, and our lifestyle, and feel it is our duty to protect both. We created SVBC because:

  • our present food system increasingly removes money from our local economy, both from our farmers, and from our neighbors as farms fail and the tax base erodes
  • many consumers do not know where their beef comes from, and, consequently, cannot know with certainty its safety or quality

The members of the Shenandoah Valley Beef Co-Op are working diligently to:

  • create a local food system that supports our farmers and keeps more money here, where it is needed
  • provide an authentic, natural beef product whose origins customers can trust
