My experience strip grazing part II

The grazing season finally came to an end on February 7th.  I will be hay feeding until the green grass of spring returns.  Some take away lessons.  Weather can impact the available forage.  I believe the stockpiled grass deteriorated faster because of the cold, wet winter we have had.  The pasture I was using had more orchard grass in it than I thought.  Orchard grass will breakdown faster than fescue.  Two reels of poly wire are ideal, but you can get by with one reel if you don’t mind walk back and worth a few times to move the fence to its final location.  The fall was a little dry last year which reduced the over grass growth for the winter months.  Overall the experience was good and hope to improve next year.
